Environmental Impacts of Biodiesel Production Cycle from Farm to Manufactory: An Application of Sustainable Systems Engineering

One of the key challenges in using fossil fuels is environmental impacts these energy sources, and to reduce destructive effects, use renewable sources (biofuels) necessary. important biofuels biodiesel, which can be produced from cottonseed. To properly manage chain dealing with biodiesel production cottonseed (from farm manufactory), hotspots must pinpointed. In present study, it was attempted examine cycle (agronomic stages, ginning, oiling, production). The data obtained all three stages were analyzed by Impact 2002+ method SimaPro software. highest contribution creating indicators at agricultural stage related nitrogen fertilizers, direct emission fuels, ginning oiling involving diesel fuel sulfuric acid, manufactory methanol electricity. potential a functional unit 1 kg include: human health, 9.05–10−6 (DAYLY); ecosystem quality, 1.369 (PDF*m2*year); climate changes, (kg CO2 eq.) 17.247; resources (MJ primary), 89.116. Results showed that agriculture has more significant participation impact than other sections (ginning production), especially due application fertilizers fuel.
